In this Privacy Statement, OMANTEL may also be referred to as ”we”, ”us” or ”our Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) is committed to protect the personal data and strive to maintain the privacy of our subscribers. This Privacy Statement describes how we may collect, process, store and securely retain and dispose of your personal data.

Defining personal data and sensitive personal data

In order for us to provide you with Telecommunication and/or related services and to operate in an efficient and effective manner, we need to collect relevant personal data from you (Civil ID etc.). The personal data collected by us may include (but is not limited to) the following:

Disclosure of your personal data

As part of providing you with Telecommunication subscription related services and the management and/or operation of the same, we may be required or need to disclose information about you to the following internal/external partners/interested parties:

  • Law enforcement agencies
  • Government agencies
  • Companies and/or organizations that assist us in processing and/or otherwise fulfilling transactions and providing you with Telecommunication subscription related services that you have requested
  • Other parties in respect of whom you have given your explicit consent

Data retention and deletion policy

We will retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Telecommunication subscription and/or related services, or for other essential purposes such as to handle or respond to any complaints, queries, requests to exercise your rights or concerns relating to the telecommunication subscription and/or related services. Your personal data may also be retained so that we can continue to improve your experience with us and to ensure that you receive Telecommunication subscription related services. Once these purposes have been fulfilled, and after the retention period stated in your contract or the law is over, we will securely delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with the applicable laws and regulation. if you would like to understand how are we using your data please contact our DPO at dpo@omantel.om

What if personal data provided by you is incomplete

Where indicated (for example in Telecommunication subscription enrolment/update/correction forms), it is obligatory to provide your personal data in order to enable us to process your application for Telecommunication subscription and/or its services. Should you decline to provide such obligatory personal data, we may not be able to process your application or provide you with telecommunication subscription and/or its services.

Your Entitlements

You have entitlement in relation to how your personal data is processed. You can exercise these rights at any point. We have provided an overview of these rights below together with what this entails for you.

  • Entitled to Confirmation and Access - You have the right to be provided with clear, transparent, and easily understandable information about your authentication records subject to conditions laid down by OMANTEL.
  • Entitled to Correction - You have the right to correct or update your personal data at any time.

Security of your information

To protect the privacy of personal data you transmit through use of this site, and enrolment agencies, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in connection with the collection, processing, discourse and secure retention and storage of personal data. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we disclose personal data to you. We restrict access to your personal data to those employees who need to know that information to provide benefits or services to you. In addition, we are ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (Information Security Management System) certified and provide the training to our employees about the importance of confidentiality and maintaining the privacy and security of your personal data.

Your Obligations

You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information to us about yourself and any other person whose personal data you provide us and for updating this personal data as and when it becomes incorrect or out of date by contacting OMANTEL via the contact details provided below. In the event you may need to provide us with personal data relating to family members (for example about your spouse or children or where you are the designated person in charge (from an organization or company)for dealing with us, if you are acquiring and are responsible for a service, you confirm that you have:

Transfer of your personal data outside Oman

Under any given circumstances the transfer of your personal data that you have given to us is not stored outside Oman. Our service providers or requesting entities who are involved in providing services through us are obligated to store the personal data in Oman.

Sehati Health Program

Health info generated by smart wearable devices stored on phone is collected if a customer allows Omantel Sehati app / SDK to do so. The data includes number of Weight, Height, Activity Level, Exercise time, Calories, Stand time, Steps, Heartpoints, Workouts, Gender , year of birth.

This information is being shared with Globant ventures who is helping Omantel to run this health program that is necessary for it to function and award the customers.
