Omantel FTTH available in Many Governorates

Al Ajmi : Our strategy aims at covering all the newly planned areas with FTTH As part of its endeavors to provide the best and high quality telecommunication services, Omantel has announced earlier a project to introduce Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology in Oman that will provide the fastest and most comprehensive range of internet applications. The introduction of FTTH using the GPON technology is a remarkable leap in the application of modern communications technology that can provide a comprehensive variety of entertainment options for both the home and business users through a high speed connection network. The FTTH technology will also provide internet users with high speed internet services that will support services such as high definition video, video on demand, e-Education etc. The project has been implemented in many phases starting with main cities in different governorate. FTTH has also been provided in areas located outside main cities. The company continues its endeavors to extend FTTH to the newly planned areas as alternative for the copper cables that were used in the past. Commenting on the service, Eng. Said Abdullah al Ajmi, Vice President of Omantel Integrated Networks Unit said ' FTTH is a state of the art technology that provides high speed internet broadband with speeds more than 150 MB per second. We at Omantel very proud being the first telecommunication company to provide this service years ahead at different areas in Muscat.” 'There is a rapid growth in demand for home broadband and modern technologies which urged us to adopt a strategy to build new fibre optic outside plant networks in newly planned area. The FTTH provides customers with unmatched benefits including high speed and reliability regardless of the distance between the customer and the central exchange. The FTTH, which is the new generation of broadband, will open new horizons for customers to use the internet especially for the applications that require high bandwidth and speeds such as e-education, e-examination, the 3D presentation, video conferences, remote security management and other broadband applications.
